Roadshow ASEAN Business and Investment Summit & ASEAN Indo-Pacific Infrastructure Forum (AIPIF) 2023
To support Indonesia’s leadership of ASEAN, the ASEAN Business, and Investment Summit & ASEAN Indo-Pacific Infrastructure Forum (AIPIF) Roadshow, is organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Canberra in collaboration with Indonesian representatives across the country which includes participation from the Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre (IIPC) Sydney, the Consulate General of Indonesia in Sydney, and the Australia-Indonesia Business Council (AIBC). The event is held from 17 to 30 May 2023 with eight major cities in Australia, including Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Darwin, Perth, Sydney, and Brisbane hosting the event.
The Ambassador of Indonesia in Australia H.E Siswo Pramono emphasized the event as a way for the strengthening of ties between Indonesia and Australia following the G20 meeting last year. This event would serve to promote quality investments to Australian investors and draw in much needed foreign investments to promote growth for Indonesia.
During the roadshow, IIPC Sydney has the opportunity to become one of the speakers in each city to promote investment opportunities in Indonesia. IIPC Sydney also delivered information regarding the recent policy reforms especially in investment licensing to accelerate the improvement of the ease of doing business in Indonesia.
Key takeaways from the event would be the emphasis on investments towards islands outside of Java to ensure the equality of investments and developments throughout Indonesia. Multiple investment projects such as special economic zones are promoted throughout the event to facilitate foreign investments. Indonesia’s quest to transition towards a green economy is also reiterated throughout the event as we continue towards our goal of transitioning to an electric vehicle (EV) friendly ecosystem and renewable energy goals.
The roadshow also promoted new investment opportunities where the Ministry of Investment has prepared 69 ready to offer investment projects throughout Indonesia along with investment information related to the new Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) is also presented to participants of the roadshow which shows the potential of Indonesia’s new capital city to grow as the new investment center for Indonesia. Events such as the upcoming Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) which will be held in Jakarta on 18-22 October 2023 are also promoted with details about the second home visa program as a part of the plan to facilitate entry for foreign investors and skilled migrants.
The ASEAN Business and Investment Summit & ASEAN Indo-Pacific Infrastructure Forum Roadshow proved to be a resounding success in conveying the investment opportunities that Indonesia has to offer. By joining hands with Australia, both countries are poised to tap into uncharted territories, ushering in a new era of growth in agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, education, tourism, digital innovation, healthcare, and finance.
The event not only strengthened the bilateral ties between Indonesia and Australia but also showcased the commitment of Indonesian representatives in promoting regional investment projects. With its potential to reshape economies and uplift communities, this roadshow was indeed a milestone in strengthening Indonesia's position as a key player in the Indo-Pacific region.
