East Java-Sydney Business Meeting
On the 2nd of July 2024, the East Java Provincial Government in collaboration with the Consulate General of Indonesia in Sydney, IIPC Sydney and AIBC hosted the East Java investment opportunities forum, in which we saw Mr Vedi Kurnia Buana, Consul general of the Republic of Indonesia deliver the opening remarks. Afterwards, Mr Haryo Sedewo, Director for IIPC Sydney also had the opportunity to talk about the investment climate in Indonesia. In which he mentioned although other countries are currently experiencing high inflation, Indonesian balance of payments, trade and inflation is still mentioned to be in good standing. Mr Haryo also touched up on the ease of investing in Indonesia, where all the investments that are made in the country are made with the OSS (Online Single Submission). Mr Haryo also mentioned about the usage of the risk based business licensing policy in which only large scale businesses require a Business License Number making Investing in Indonesia to be hassle-free
The next half of the event was filled with insightful information delivered by Mr Mohammad Arief Faurony who is the Investment Climate Development Sub-Sector Coordinator for The Investment and One-Stop Integrated Service Office (DPMPTSP). Mr Mohammad Arief Faurony gave an overview of the East Java investment landscapes. He also mentioned that the population growth rate of East Java is increasing gradually with it being at 0.79% at the moment. Mr Arief, also enlightened us of the amazing economic capabilities of East Java. With its GDP being at 24.99% of the national GDP, coming close at DKI Jakarta which still sits at the first position. East Java also provides facilities in terms of logistics, with East Java having 6 airports, and 5 harbours.
Afterwards, Mrs Monique Dwi Jayanti also explored the potential of the Boom Marina in Banyuwangi, East Java. Boom Marina has been managed by PT. Perindo Properti Indonesia since 2015. Boom Marina boasts 422,000 sqm of area and PT. Perindo aims to develop the Marina into a tourist destination. Mrs Monique also informed us about the statistics of tourist activity, where in 2023, there were more than 2.7 million domestic tourists and over 24,000 international tourists who visited Banyuwangi in 2023. Boom Marina already has plenty of facilities that are available, one of the few incl,ude Paintball, Ampitheatre, and PT Perindo is planning the place a theme park in the middle of the island which will be as big as 200 sqm
The last project that was showcased was the Tuban Special Economic Zone which was presented by Mr. Arief Wahyutomo. His presentation highlighted the strategic importance, infrastructure, and opportunities for investment for the Tuban Special Economic Zone. This zone boasts a land total of 233 ha, all the legal processes that are required have already been approved by the Indonesian government. Mr Arief, gave us a glimpse of the potential of the Tuban Special Economic Zone which caters to multiple sectors. To name a few, that being Fisheries, the non metallic minerals industry, agriculture and cattle farms
The final closing remarks was presented by Mr Pranaya Yudha Mahardika where he touched up on the previous project presentations and expressed gratitude towards participating parties and all guests.
