On 31st August to 2nd September 2022, WIR Group in collaboration with Alpha JWC Ventures and Tokocrypto have set NXC International Summit 2022: ‘Unleashing Indonesia’s Potential as Asia’s Digital Investment Destination’ in Merusaka Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali.
A little step back of positive long journey of NEXTICORN (NXC). It all began in 2015 where five curated most promising startups prospect were still neglected or unheard, and Indonesian government with Ernst &Young initiated a meeting with world tech investors in Silicon Valley, namely Sir Michael Moritz (Sequoia Capital), Mary Meeker (KPCB), Yuri Milner (DST Global), Kyle Doherty (Coatue Management), Ted Ullyot (Andreesen-Horrowitz). Those five startups are known as Traveloka, Tokopedia, Gojek, Matahari, and Kaskus. In two years’ time, what was once unheard and unseen, the first five startups gained heaps of capital raise and the business growth has made visible breakthrough throughout the market. Therefore, the story made a return to Silicon Valley with next in line Indonesian 20 curated startups in 2017. After all that, Nexticorn organisers continued to leading digital investment by performing world tour campaign to publicise and connect with global tech investors. Several VC Roadshow were in South Korea, China, Singapore, Japan, and Switzerland. In May 2018, the NEXTICORN Summit: “Voyage to Indonesia Digital Investment Paradise” was held as first ultra-exclusive event engineered providing red carpet access to global digital investor for Indonesia’s most prospective and investable start-ups.
Despite in the height of COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia’s digital market is still a fruitful foundation for developing start-ups which raised US$ 585 million or ranked second globally in 2020 in VC Funding Rounds closing and VC Investment grew by 33.8% CAGR (2018-2020). Massive young population technology adoption plus how accessible the internet at present time have evidently made Indonesia as a lucrative market for digital businesses. During the pandemic, Indonesia added nine new promising unicorns, attracting more digital tech investment each time. Indonesia is also one of the largest crypto markets in the world, enough to say that the most Indonesian are part of crypto enthusiasts and support the under-development web3.
In this year NXC Summit, the curated start-ups have been through robust selective methodology to bring quality and qualify the main startup criteria. Current startups participants are grouped into Series A, Series B, and Series C and above. NXC Summit 2022 will invite most prominent global VCs from different countries. Among those are IFC, MUFG Innovation Partners, Temasek, Softbank, Sequoia, and Sovereign’s Capital. During the event, all guests will be able to experience and have glance at future technologies through blockchain, NFT, AR/VR, De-Fi, DAO, dApps, and metaverse.
